The Tower of London

The Tower of London is the oldest fortress, palace and prison of its type anywhere in Europe. With a long history of executions, murder and torture, ranging from hanging, beheading, to being hung, drawn and quartered, it is the perfect recipe for a haunted history.

It is no surprise that it ranks as one of the most haunted castles in Britain. Hundreds of ghost sightings have been reported in and around The Tower over the years. If you would like to hear 2 minutes of history about the Tower of London then click here.

Trick or Treat

Trick or Treat?
Trick or Treat?

Trick-or-treating is a customary celebration for children at Halloween. Children go in costume from house to house, asking for treats such as sweets or sometimes money, with the question, “Trick or treat?”

The word “trick” refers to a threat to do mischief on the home owners or their property if no treat is given.  Have you ever played a trick on anyone?

Happy Halloween

Halloween is a holiday celebrated on October the 31st. Although it is thought to be a secular celebration some Christians and pagans believe it has strong religious connections.

The day is often associated with the colours orange and black, and is strongly associated with symbols such as the jack-o’-lantern.

Halloween activities include trick-or-treating, wearing costumes, ghost tours, bonfires, costume parties, visiting haunted attractions, carving jack-o’-lanterns, pranking people, reading scary stories, and watching horror movies

If you want to know how to make a jack-o’- lantern then follow the simple steps here:  Make your own lantern in 15 minutes

Ray of sunshine

What's your ray of sunshine?

In England it’s very common for people to say: What a ray of sunshine! to the parents of new born babies.  The exclamation refers to how wonderful and gorgeous the baby is.

I remember when my mother gave birth to my baby sister, my first words were: What’s that, and why is it screaming?   Obviously, my mother was not happy with me.

Do you have ants in your pants?

Halloween is nearly here and I’m sooooooooooo excited!!!!!! I can hardly speak because I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo excited, in fact  I have ants in my pants.

James Brown, he always felt good, he always had ants in his pants.

I can dress up as a witch, cast some spells on Real Madrid football players, and go trick and treating.

Yes,  have ants in your pants means: you are very, very, very excited about something.

Do you feel like a fish out of water?

Oh no, what does it all mean? I feel very, very, very uncomfortable!! Where's my WATER?

To feel like a fish out of water, means you feel uncomfortable in a specific situation.  When people talk about physics and chemistry I usually feel like a fish out of water because I don’t understand anything, and I mean nothing!

I still think the fax machine is something from the 23rd Century.  Honestly, how does it work?  I stick some paper in a machine, punch in a few numbers and then someone receives a copy of it in another country.  I know it’s cool, but I just can’t get my head around it. Somebody please explain this to me using words with 2 syllables or less.
