Are you a tree hugger?

tree huggerA tree hugger is a colloquial expression often used to describe environmentalists in a negative way.  However, despite the negative connotations of this idiom, everyone should be a tree hugger. So folks, put down your gadgets and go and hug a tree, plant a tree or prune a bush.

Ironman Marbella

Seriously, you have to be a complete nutjob to do this type of endurance competition. And yet, one of my mates from the UK is competing in this body-breaking race.

He will swim 1,900m in the Mediterranean Sea, then cycle for 90k through the breathtaking scenery of inland Andalusia, and finally finish the race with a 21k run.

So, despite the fact that I think he is completely bonkers, I admire him more than I can articulate.  I can neither imagine the mental strength, nor the physical prowess that one needs to enter this competition.  I will be there, drinking beer, smoking fags, and cheering him on like the Tasmanian devil.

Trinity ISE II B2 Exam Success: Congratulations Manuel and Juan

There are 1000 of reasons to learn a language, and just as many reason to give up. However, what impresses me the most about people who learn a second language is their ability to open my brain and show me the world from a different perspective.

Manuel and Juan, congratulations on your achievements; you are amazing. So, throw caution to the wind and go mental this week, you deserve to let your hair down and do some disco dancing. I am chuffed to bits for you both!
