To sit around

to sit aroundTo sit around means to sit in a place doing nothing special.  Another common expression which means the same thing is: to hang around/about.

For example:

Question: What did you do at that weekend?

Answer:  Nothing special, I just sat around on Saturday, and on Sunday, I hung about with friends in a local café chatting about sport.
